L'Shana Tova Umetukah - A Good and Sweet Year!
High Holidays Services at Temple Sholom, where the prayers are familiar, the people are friendly and everyone feels at home. The services will leave you feeling enriched, connected, uplifted and energized to start your New Year in a most meaningful way. We welcome Jews from every background, ability, and level of observance.
Please join us for the High Holy Days as we celebrate the New Year and think about the past year and how we have lived it. Hear the Shofar, reconnect with the Jewish community and find everyday holinesswith our Temple family.
Many of the prayers are recited by the congregation in unison and in English, so that everyone can participate. Hebrew/English prayer books are used throughout the service and Rabbi Mark provides a running commentary with explanatory insights. Our Cantor Hesh leads the congregation with his heartfelt voice and traditional tunes.
Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance is printed and made available during the High Holy Day services, starting with the Yizkor Service on Yom Kippur and is also used during other appropriate times of the year. Click to include the name of a dearly departed member of the Jewish faith in the Book of Remembrance.
Kever Avot - Memorial Service
Kever Avot: Memorial Service
Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
(Mount Hebron Section)
It is customary between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to recite prayers at the graveside of our beloved ones. This ceremony is known as Kever Avot (Graves of our Parents). For members who are unable to travel to the graveside of their beloved ones, one should still pay one’s respect by going to the nearest cemetery.
