Our traditional Bar or Bnai bar mitzvah training includes three main areas:
1. Torah Portion Preparation
Learning to read Hebrew with trope (cantillation marks)
Practicing the aliyah – your specific Torah portion
Understanding the meaning of the parsha so you can explain it
2. Haftarah & Prayers
Learning your Haftarah portion
Practicing prayers you’ll lead, including: Shema, Amidah, Aleinu, etc.
3. D’var Torah (Speech)
Writing a short speech explaining your torah portion & what it means to you or a lesson or theme you want to share.
